Structure

The network is functioning as a registered NGO since 2015, its members being youth organizations and from Europe as well as individual experts and volunteers.

General Assembly

The main decision-making body of the network is its General Assembly, which gathers every year with a minimum of one representative from each member organization.

Board

The executive body of the network is its board, which consists of up to five representatives and is chosen for a period of one calendar year.

The current board of Shokkin Group International was elected during the General Assembly of 2019 and consists of six board members representing five of the member organizations as follows:

Key areas of work of the board 2019/2020
  • Professionalizing the external communication and increasing the network’s contribution to the youth work field;
  • Creating a structured system to assess, maintaining and raising the quality of own work of member organizations;
  • Providing support to members and increasing connections among member organizations through improving internal communication channels and providing space for meetings;
  • Exploring cross-sectorial cooperation opportunities and prototyping educational product and service packages to increase network’s sustainability;
  • Creating a training and development plan and apply for at least three (3) need-based training courses and two innovation projects for and with member organizations by November 2020;
  • Gaining operational grant for the network and to develop a sustainability plan by November 2020.
  • Increasing the member number in the network by 3.

Key areas of work of the board 2018/2019
  • Finalizing the membership process according to the expected criteria of organizational involvement.
  • Establishing a strong EVS culture in the network and supporting members in their first EVS management steps.
  • Exploring sustainability possibilities and finding ways of applying for operational and structural funding.
  • Establishing a strong external communication culture using differentiated strategies and a variety of key social media channels.
  • Strengthening cooperation among members and supporting internal exchange of information and plans as well as informal bonds.
  • Making first steps in establishing internal programs and events for young people and members of organizations.
  • Continuing with effective training concepts and other project activities for the members of the network.

Key areas of work of the board 2017/2018
  • During the first pilot year the board concentrated on establishing the internal communication strategy and updates culture using a monthly newsletter. This newsletter includes network news and requests to members alongside with the introduction of financial support from a variety of funds available for small and medium NGO’s.
  • The board created an exhaustive resource database that includes templates for local and international project activities, administration guides, “how to” manuals and youth work-related publications and sources for members of the network.
  • The board consulted members on request and developed internal training concepts based on the needs of members and the network as well as training courses for greater sets of partners including network members.
  • The board took the first steps towards developing long-term projects and researching into the network’s sustainability possibilities.
